Velocity controlled servo ? was created by qwertyqwq
Hi all,
I m new here and also at linuxcnc. I have some questions about how to drive my motors using linuxcnc via mesa boards. I m not familiar none of the linuxcnc and mesa board , but i have many experiences about designing high power motor drivers and im familiar with 3ph circuits.
Here let me tell about my goal;
Im currently designing a pcb that can drive ac servos about 2.2kW power rating. The drive doesnt have any closed loop control on itself. So no feedback unit will hook up to the driver board. Feedback unit will tie to the main controller like mesa or etc. Driver board will control the ac servos via velocity control. Input signals can be either a +-10v or a variable duty modulation signal. So, i m wondering that is any of the controllers like mesa board can handle this ? Do you have any example just like mine ? Or any extra advice to me ?
Thank you..

For +-10V
Mesa 7i92T + 7i77
Mesa 7i97 or 7i97T?
Mesa 7i96S + 7i83
etc.
For PWM, pretty much any Mesa can do but some might need firmware flashing.

I think you will not having problems with this.
One german guy shows on youtube how to control DC Servos on a simple mechanics but with glas scales as feedback only with an 7i92h and some cheap chinese h-bridge boards.
So everything ist controlled by linuxcnc. When you have velocity controll in your drivers an "only" position control by linuxcnc everything works just fine. No problems.

Interrested in something similar..
-+10v speed control (with 7i33ta) so linuxcnc only holds position loop.
How can i do pid tuning ? With FF1 and P?
What ferror is acceptable for knee mill machine with 5m/m rapids?
For 1 more analog output can i use this module?
