Kernel was created by garja
I'm wondering if I have the correct Kernel installed for Linuxcnc Debian Bookworm 2.9.2. When I issue the command uname -a the information returned is 6.1.0-16-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_RT Debian 6.1.67-1 (2023-12-12) x86-64 GNU/Linux.
I beginning a new install which is using a Mesa 7i96s card. I installed Linuxcnc 2.9.2- amd64.hybrid. Now that I've installed this, is there anything else I need to install or should I be ready to run the pncconfig?
There is one thing that is confusing to me. I read in the manual the following:
"If you see (as above) -rt- in the kernel name then you are running the preempt-rt kernel and should
install the ”uspace” version of LinuxCNC. You should also install uspace for ”sim” configs on nonrealtime
kernels"
Does this mean that I need to install uspace? Is the kernel I have listed above a nonrealtime kernel?
Thanks in advance to anyone that is able to help :>.

No need to install anything, read the docs, make a config, run the machine.

Yes everything is installed for you with the 2.9.2 ISO.
The eceptions are QTPYVCP/Probe Basic and Ethercat but their repositories are already installed so they are now super simple to get going. There are even some notes in a file in your home folder
The kernel is correct for Debian Bookworm 12.4 which we used for the ISO.

rodw... I read the notes file in the home folder. In the notes you provide a link to a Linuxcnc forum with details of how to install the ethercat step by step. When I arrive at the forum there is a link to a "Linucnc live installler which includes the required third party repositories pre installed" I tried the following link which is no longer valid.
drive.google.com/file/d/16nprK_5HeURoNGd.../view?usp=drive_link
Is there a new link to this file?
