Hello guys, I'm currently in the process of completing a retrofit on my milling machine. I swapped the old motors for Delta B3 1kw servos. Now I want to connect them via step and direction signal, but I don't know where to start and I don't know anything about it. I can't figure it out from the instructions either. Can someone help me? I use a Mesa 7i96s to control it

You should start here:

Pulse = step
Sign = dir

I recomended Mesa 7i85 for encoder output.

Which pins are absolutely required or can I set this via the parameters?

The minimum for a step/dir setup would be:

SIGN+ 7I96_DIR+
SIGN-  7I96_DIR+
PULSE+ 7I96_STEP+
PULSE-  7I96_STEP-

If one of the digital inputs can be programmed as ENABLE
and driven by a 7I96 output, That's probably better

I'm using a Mesa 7i96S on my mill with Delta B3 servos. I've posted complete schematics in this thread:

@PCW,
There is a typo, the second line should have - at the end.

I would like to thank you in advance for your help. Cables are already soldered according to your plan, but I don't quite understand the parameterization of the power amplifier. Could you help me or send me yours?

I started with the quick guide from here.
Is for the B2 controller but I think should work for B3 too.

The B3 drives have a large amount of parameters available. At least it felt like that for a rookie like me. In the end I sat down and went through the list of available parameters in the manual and tried filter out which ones that applied to my setup.

In the end I didn't change many at all, basically only the mapping of some output and input pins and the number of steps per revolutions (egear).
