Aquire tool compensation information. was created by Willheg
Hi everyone,
I'm still running linuxcnc 2.7.15, but making a info panel, and just wanting to know if anyone knows how to aquire the values from g41/42 and g41.1/42.1.
I've been looking for a couple of days now with no luck.
Any info or pointers would be great
Thanks
Will

G41/42 just use the tool diameter from the tool table, I don't see anywhere where the D word for G41.1/42.1 is in any numbered parameters but I might be wrong.

Thanks JT,
Yeah that's what I saw as well, but I was hoping in python/variables/parameters there would be a way to retrive this information so i could have it on the screen as a visual incase it was already active and it shouldn't be, then it would be visible so you knew and could turn it off, also so if you needed to adjust things you knew what is was set to so you knew where to go without having to try and remember.
Although I am writing my own custom gcode and new tool edit widget to allow me to store and use the data for g41.1 etc, so maybe I could just pull it fromithat table.
I am doing this as the tool preview looked silly if i uses the D value from the tool table as when it was set to offset the path with G41/2 the tool preview would be super tiny/line thin.
Will keep thinking, but maybe someone out there will know how.
Thanks again
