Yes, you must pay attention to capitalization.

I think the capital S just happened from using quick reply then go to edit. I don't see anything obvious that could be a case sensitive problem.
I've attached the recent hal file.
I'm out of town now so wont be able to make any progress on the machine for the next week.

hopefully I can take some time to learn more about programing hal.
but maybe id be better off trying to set up the machine using the mesa configuration tool v2.

Pncconf works for me that is it creates a working spindle configuration
The only thing it will not do is the inversion of the PWM output which
requires the:

setp hm2_7i92.0.pwmgen.00.out0.invert_output true

Yes, the 0-10V on the 5ABOB is controlled by PWM.
PWMgen 0 is routed to P2  pin 1 on the 7I92 5ABOB firmware
