Axis stopped moving was created by smplc
LinuxCNC 2.9.1 was launching okay and I ran few programs and manufactured some parts.  LinuxCNC 2.9.2 launched a few times, spindle on/off and axes moved okay.  The control box power on/off rocker switch wouldn't power off and the mechanism might have been worn out.  I replaced the rocker power switch.  Powered on the control box, launched LinuxCNC and the Axis screen showed the spindle speed on and jogged axes but no spindle and axes movement.  I wonder if about every 2-3 seconds powering the rocker switch on/off numerous times trying to power off faulted something with the 7i96s board.  The 7i96s power input is receiving positive 5 DCV.  The board status LED's CR11-14 are lit color green.  I hadn't changed any configuration just prior the spindle and axes not moving except in the .ini file increased the X-axis limit -0.5 and save.  I didn't realize the spindle and axes not moving until just after replacing the power switch and power on.  Please see attached image about the Ethernet, 7i96s board and command line terminal.  What could cause the spindle and axes not to move?

If LinuxCNC operates and you get no following errors
that means communication with the 7I96S is working.

I would check:

1. That you do not have a watchdog fault (red LED on 7I96S)
2. All step/dir wiring is OK
3. Step/Dir outputs work (check that DIR pins change polarity when jogging either way)
4. Step Drive power is there

1. No watchdog LED (CR6) except when closing LinuxCNC that was opened in the command line terminal.
2. All wires okay including stepper drivers and spindle.
3. I tried jogging Z and X axes back and forth and no movement.
4. Step drives have power and their LED's green color lit. The main power supply output is 41 DCV.

Only the power on/off rocker switch wiring was interchanged to mount a new switch. The wires are replaced the same way.

The address was 10.10.10.1 at the .hal file and /interfaces file. I was using that address when version 2.9.1 and 2.9.2 awhile before the axes stopped moving. I changed to the address 10.10.10.10 both files and still no axes moving and no spindle rotating after MDI and S700 M3;. Also, I altered at the .ini file the X-axis limit to the previous setting and saved. However launching LinuxCNC still no axis and spindle movement.

Powering the control box off and on the 7i96s RJ45 LED's colored green and amber/yellow lit and the logic power (CR8) LED colored yellow lit. CR11-14 LED's aren't lit green until pinging the address 10.10.10.10.

The hal file must have 10.10.10.10

The interfaces file (or static other IP setup on the host)

Should be10.10.10.X where X is not 0,255 or 10

I would check the (X,Y,Z) direction pin when jogging back and forth

Address in HAL = 10.10.10.10
Address in interfaces file = 10.10.10.11 or 10.10.10.1 or whatever from 1 to 254, but NEVER 10 at the end.

Recently, I powered on the control box and the CR11-14 not lit as before. I pinged 10.10.10.10 and received millisecond time intervals but CR11-14 none lit. Then I pinged 10.10.10.1, destination not reached and CR11 and 14 lit.

I replaced the /interfaces address to 10.10.10.1, saved and the .hal remained to 10.10.10.10. Maybe the .hal file was 10.10.10.10 before. I launched LinuxCNC but still no axes movement. Are you suggesting to check a (X,Y,Z) pin file when jogging and where? Only a two-axis, X and Z.

I mean check the voltage on the 7I96S  X,Y,Z DIR  pins
When you jog back and forth (relative to ground)

Configured profile
During MDI g91 g1 x-1.5 f1.5

X-axis
+STEP0 at 0.45DCV
-STEP0 at 4.44DCV
+DIR0 at 0.45DCV
-DIR0 at 4.44 DCV
+5DCV at 4.96 DCV

During MDI g91 g1 z-1.5 f1.5
Z-axis
+STEP1 at 0.45DCV
-STEP1 at 4.44DCV
+DIR1 at 0.45DCV
-DIR1 at 4.44 DCV
+5DCV at 4.96 DCV

However, I do a lot of simulations before manufacturing a first part. I realized this morning at my desktop I was launching LinuxCNC simulation instead of my LinuxCNC configured profile when axes were overtraveling expected limits. I was probably use to where the configured profile icon was before it was repositioned on the desktop too. The configured profile, commanded spindle and axis movement is operable now. Pardon me for mistaken the sim launch for the config launch and any inconvience.

Sometimes, I might overlook somethings on my portable monitor including the screen (profile) title.
