Hello guys,
bad news for me.
Today i installed the VFD to the wall a bit far away from the control box. After i was done, i wanted to check if everything works and check if i still have some noise problems from the VFD.
Due to the fact that i am again totally confused from 5-6hours of trying to fix it, i am not anymore sure if i got the unexpected real time delay on first start up (but later i got it all the time), but i have found out that when i jog by keyboard or mouseclick on the jog buttons quickly, lets say couple of short and quick jogs, then i get a joint following error 0 and the machine is then off. When i put it on and do the same quick and short jogs then i get following error 1. Then again the same and following error 2. (i would not take the sequence serious, i later also got following error 1 first, at least i believe, but i am not 100% sure)
I GET NO FOLLOWING ERROR WHEN:
- Jogging normalny, no quick clicks
- running a program
Is it possible that USB is the problem?
I havent changed anything since i posted the screenshot of the very-good latency in latency-histogram.
More info:
It happens also that when i want to start Linuxcnc i get a error (see picture), but its possible that it starts after trying second or third time.
Also sometimes Linuxcnc got stuck (freeze) or the whole PC, but of course i started to play around with the Bios settings and specific bios settings could create more problem.
I dont have PS/2 keyboard / mouse available to test. Changing two USB settings in BIOS did not help. (legacy usb something and one other option)
So, if you will have no idea, then my only option might be the 7i76eu, BUT i am also thinking to go back to Wheezy and Linuxcnc 2.8, IF its possible to do file sharing with e.g. Samba, but i believe that all tutorials are before windows did something to block the file sharing. Rodw wrote something about it, here in this thread.
PS: I need nothing but working Linuxcnc, mousepad/geany and file sharing or a browser that works so i can send files by mail or open Microsoft OneDrive.

When I installed my AC servo drive for the spindle on the mill I went with the manufacturers recommendations and installed the line filters & reactor (not the cheapest item) as per the manual. Never had an issue with noise.
Tho in saying that the VFD for the Myford hasn't progressed beyond being connected directly to the AC, no filters nor reactor, non shielded leads from the VFD to the motor.
So I don't really know. And the above maybe of no practical help. Just thought I'd share my each way experience.

On the file copying front, have you had a look at scp for windows.
winscp.net/eng/download.php
Can't really comment on the windows side, I'm one of those meatheads that is totally Linux.

Update with good news:
I decided on yesterday evening to install Debian (7?) wheezy 2.7.x and then i upgraded to 2.9.
- No unexpected realtime delays on start up
- no joint following errors
- strangely, OneDrive is working with rclone, but need to mount everytime after reboot, but i read its possible to automatically mount it.
I didnt test much, but i was 45min ago in the workshop with the pc after 8h latency-histogram test and tested all functions and axis movements. On tomorrow i will do more test.
@unknown: Thanks for the tipps. Actually, 2 days ago i ordered a input filter to vfd and firrites beads for the output cables to motor. Also i have mounted it to the wall.
I didnt know about the "Line Reactor". I will check which one i need and for sure i will also order it. I want to be 100% sure that there will be no problems comming from the vfd in future.
Also thanks for the winscp tip, i will take a look at it if OneDrive fails.
I also tested filezille ssh and it works, BUT i will explain how i did it always and its for me the most comfortable setup:
- When i save cnc programms in Fusion360, the files are saved directly to a OneDrive cloud folder.
On my Workshop Windows PC, as well as my main Home PC i have set it up like that, so even when all Windows PCs are offline, i can still access the files on the LinuxCNC PC.
Now, if i would use FileZilla, the LinuxCNC PC has to be ON.
Also, i have more steps to do: First save files in Fusion360, then move the files to the Linuxcnc pc.
Its not a catastrophe, but onedrive mount is faster and simpler.
The best would be to have a hardware server that is always on, but if its even possible, then for sure it not a quick thing to setup.
Okay i have to start to work, but MAYBE finally the problem is solved, but i need to do some tests on tomorrow, when the VFD input filter is installed and the ferrites beads.
Br, Denis

Another option, if your router supports it, is to use that to share files, I have a TPLink TD-W9980 which I just use as an access point, plug a USB drive into it and I use that as a central point for small files. I know it's always on and always available.

This is interesting... I will read about that later. If i can directly save files from Fusion360 to that USB drive that is plugged to the Router, then this option might be best.
I will test it, thank you!
