Byte 2 bot setup will not work. was created by Skippy2024
I have the pi 5 16gb with parallel port and 5 axis board off the byte to bot site with DM 556 driver and 4 amp strippers set up as the byte to bot video. Can't get it to work picture of set up and faults.

If you are using the byte to bot supplied files they won't work .
The images you supplied aren't really readable.
What I would suggest is read the docs for the hal_gpio driver and modify your files to suit.
Then loudly complain to byte2bot their files are useless for the raspberry pi .
Also when asking for help attaching your hal & ini files is most helpful.
Also attaching the error files rather than photos of the screen helps as well.

Every reference to PINxx should be GPIOxx, which you see by reading the docs for hal_gpio.
If you need to use GPIO7 and GPIO8 you will need to disable SPI in /boot/broadcom/config.txt.
Also you may have to play around with the base thread to prevent rt errors.

linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/drivers/hal_gpio.html

Also loudly complain to byte2bot.

In the RPi sticky there is some info regarding hal_gpio and one or 2 other threads with working examples, not directly related to byte2bot but enough to see how it should work.

The Devs and other community members put hard work into the docs.

I thought I would reply here as I too bought a Byte2Bot parallel hat. I eventually did get it working, but in hindsight I believe I made a mistake purchasing this. While it does work for its intended purpose once you figure out the setup, it is limited to 12 outputs and 5 inputs. What I should have done is purchase a level shifting GPIO breakout hat, which give 26 pins of I/O and each pin can be either input or output. As my particular machine is set up, I have used all of the 5 inputs on the byte2bot board, but could use some more. I believe a level shifting breakout board would have been more useful for me.
