Retrofit Gildemeister ct40 was created by mathwld
Hello all,I’m in progress to get information about how to retrofit an old Gildemeister. To make a plan with what to buy and set the proper path. In the begging was pretty clear, new servo, new Vfd, go with ethercat and modbus for spindle. But when o checked today the spindle is a very large dc motor. The amplifier is old but in working condition. A new amplifier have a huge price for this motor. Do you have some suggestion for me?

OUCH! 25KW DC motor... you win! :) I have a 11KW one on a Mazak lathe.
If the drive is working, i would not change it, well i did not change mine, so
-K332 is relay contact for enabling the drive
-Sollwert should be the analog +-10V input
There are other things there, but for now if the rest of the installation is OK, that should be it.
You would need an analog Mesa card like 7i97T or 7i92TM with 7i77, or some other combination.
In general, i use the old drives and motors whenever possible.

I’m not sure I’m the winner:))).I hoped to have something more normal than this monster. Anyway when motor or driver will brake I will be forced to replace it.:-??I’m thinking to go with 7i92tm, 7i76, 7i73.My first ideea was to use ethercat but I will use veichi analog servo in the end. I don’t want to make a hibrid system and is my first retrofit.i have also installed a heidenhain ttl 5V on spindle I hope to make it work rigid tapping. I succed to find a plate clean for motor 1:1. This is actual motor
