How does emc2 connect with those pci boards like m5i20 or motenc or others? through parallel port or what?
and what would happen if I want to build my own board? Is it possible to use other kinds with emc2? Because I don't have easy access to your boards.
I'd read somewhere that General Motors also uses emc2, is it really true? or kind of a joking with me?
and in the first page it said that emc2 can control up to 9 axis simultaneously. is this sweetheart that much pro?
thanks in advance.

Take a look here...
www.linuxcnc.org/content/view/5/5/lang,english/
You might want to start with the getting started guide.
Also download the live cd and try EMC on your computer without making any changes to your computer.
The pci cards just slide into an empty pci slot in your computer.
You can build your own breakout board for EMC, normally done from the parallel port.

what I want to know is how to connect emc2 and the cards from hal file. In hal samples I saw they use, for example, parport.0.pin-01 which is for a stepper.
now if I want to control a servo motor through the pci card which I made myself, what should I do in hal files?
and another question, are the pulses which control a servo motor the same as what is used in steppers?
I used to work with steppers, but now want to do the same with servos.

Part of my last reply was lost.
The pci cards plug into your computer and they have software to work with hal.
An example would be hostmot2 for Mesa hardware.
Perhaps you could post some information about your pci card to the forum.
There are examples of both steppers and servos supplied with EMC.
