hooking emc2 directly to x/z dc servo driver was created by graymachine
Hi,
The analog dc servo drive system is still functional in my Mazak QT10 Universal cnc lathe. I can home it and jog x/z just fine.
Can emc2 connect directly to the board in my existing controller and drive my analog dc servo's? I would remove all other boards
in the controller box if needed, and use emc2 and its plc if possible.
Thanks.

If it is a common +-10vdc velocity drive with encoder feedback to the controller it is a very common conversion. Most use Mesa 5i20 + 7i33ta and 7i37ta daughter boards to connect up to most drives.
I converted my Hardinge CHNC lathe that way.

John,
Thanks. I looked at the mesa cards and have another question. The MESA 5I20 is a "general purpose programmable I/O card for the PCI bus."
Is it then possible to use the netmos 9835 serial i/o card I already have in my pc and connect it to the mesa 7i33ta?
Thanks,
Darrell

I don't know if that is possible. Perhaps Peter if he sees this can comment.
