Wow, I now have a TB4 TB5 and TB6 showing !!!!!!!

Still no idea why the build downloaded but failed to install the newest vesion. It installed the one a few months old. Nothing I did, it is supposed to be a automated process.

Oh well, we got there anyway. It was just a bumpy road.

Hello there,

I have just installed my brand new mesa 5I25 - 7I76 combo in my 10.04 RT Ubuntu system. I have pointed synaptic at the build bot repository

deb buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ lucid master-rt

and made sure to get, as of today, the latest version (2.6-pre0-3092).

I have followed this procedure to get the 5i25 and 7i76 firwmare

www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/english/compo...mit=6&start=42#16133

And, for a reason that escapes me right now, PNCConf still refuses to give me 5I25 as a choice for the card. Anyone know what I am doing wrong ?

Regards

J Blain

Thank you for the info,

I have made some progress, I followed the procedures you gave me. I still did not have a choice for 5I25 in PNCConf, I then realised that the folders I had copied into usr/share/doc and lib/firmware with sudo nautilus did not have the same user permissions as the ones already present. So i corrected that and now:

PNPConf gives a choice for 5I25. Please note that I have not yet connected my 7I76 board, I need to buy a cable for that today. So right now, when I select 5I25 in PNCConf I get to Mesa I/O setup screen but :

The 7I76 checkbox does not show up in the sanity check, checkbox window. The 7I33 checkbox is selected instead ?

Is that normal ? Should I configure only with the 7I76 physically connected ?

Make sure the cable is marked IEEE1284 or it might not work.

I have gotten my hand on an IEEE1284 certified cable. When I plug the 7I76 and start PnCConf as before, I am able to select the 5I25 card as the PCI card. PnCConf indicates that it is loaded with the 7I76 firmware (the two cards were ordered as a set from Mesa). But the sanity checkboxes on the right do not include the 7I76 ??

What sould I do from there ?

A little more investigating and I found that the 5I25 was not configured to supply 5 volts to the 7I76 ??!!

So I fixed that and just went ahead and unchecked all the sanity checkboxes in PNCConf. Proceeded to the end and I now seem to have a configured mesa driven stepper machine.

At least I hope i do. Now for some more testing ;-)
