5i25 with 7i77 unregistering was created by tjones
I have the 5i25 and the 7i77 setup. I got through the PnCConf wizard and tried opening LinuxCNC and I get an error.
My log file says (using the dmesg):
hm2/hm2_5i25.0: registered
hm2_5i25.0: initialized AnyIO board at 0000:04:00.0
hm2_5i25.0: dropping AnyIO board at 0000:04:00.0
hm2/hm2_5i25.0: unregistered
There were no error messages in the linuxcnc_debug.txt and linuxcnc_print.txt
files.
Not sure what is going wrong, can anyone help?
Thanks

can you attach the entire dmesg?
well better is to delete the pre linuxcnc stuff:
sudo dmesg -c
(run linuxcnc)
dmesg > dmesg.txt
and post dmesg,txt here

ctc_mill.hal:29: Pin 'hm2_5i25.0.7i77.0.0.input-00' does not exist
Is the error
Most likely cause is no field power to the 7I77s Field I/O section (TB2)

I have a 24v field power connected to TB2. It's wired as the manual says it should with the positive side to the bottom pin or pin 1 and the ground or common to pin 8 on the top. There are also three LED's that light up. They are:
CR3 is Yellow
CR15 is Green
CR16 is Red
According to other other posts on the forum.
The LED's stand for: (I am assuming that if the LED is on, that the following are criteria are meet)
CR1 Yellow 5V power
CR3 Yellow Field power
CR6 Yellow +15V power
CR7 Yellow -15V power
CR15 Green Serial transaction
CR16 Red Field I/O fault

CR16 is Red

I was just reading the forum on the CR16 fault LED. That post said that W4 and W12 need to be in the left hand position. The W12 on my 7i77 was not in the left hand position, so I moved it over and tried again. The resulted in the Green CR15 to turn off. I tried running linuxcnc and there was still something wrong.

Sounds like you have no 5V power on the 7I77 (no CR1)
Take a look at page 2 of the 7I77 manual (cable 5V power)
and page 2 of the 5I25 manual. (breakout power option)
The 7I77 can use 5V power from the 5I25 or from an external source
but both the 5I25 and the 7I77 must be configured differently for each mode

I have doubled checked both the 7i77 and the 5i25 cards to make sure they are in the correct position for the 5i25 to supply the 7i77 with the 5v power.
For the 7i77 the jumper W5 needs to be in the left hand position and on the 5i25 the jumpers W1 and W2 need to be in the up position. All of the jumpers are in the correct positions.

If CR1 is not illuminated, you have no 5V power on the 7I77.
Do you have anything connected to the 7I77?,
If so I would remove all connections
(other than the DB25 cable and field power)
in case you have a 5V short or you are drawing
more 5V power than the PTC on the 5I25 can supply

I have removed everything but the DB25 and the field power. I am still getting the same error with linuxcnc. I have still not seen the CR1 LED light up. I tried taking a voltmeter and testing the cable to see if 5V was seen on any of the pins, It was zero everywhere. Not sure how to tell the card to send it 5V so I could test that or if that is even possible, but I am still having problems with the card dropping.
