I'm assuming differential is the way I had it??
Also it shows resistors in the diagram but that's only if you have above 5v going into the drive.

OK differential is normally preferred as it has better noise immunity
Can you see the dir signals change polarity when you jog either direction?
If you are getting step pulses and the drive does not step I would suspect too short step timing or
maybe reversed step polarity
I would try reversing the step polarity and if that does not help, double the step length

I will give that a shot later. These drives have software tuning where you can have it to cw/ccw and tweak bunch of other stuff. By default the are supposed to be pul/dir but I wonder if there is something I need to change in there too. I don't have a cable so I would have to make one. Plus its a windows program. Hoping I don't have to do that.

It's alive! The polarity was reversed on the step +/-. That's a relief. I'm sure I will have some other questions too but for now I'm happy and continue on. Thanks for the help!
