Ah yes I believe I remember a problem that was cause by language.
Can you try and run it in english and see if the screen works properly.
I'll see if i can find the terminal commands to do that..

Based on this page:
makandracards.com/makandra/28205-linux-r...le-than-your-default

in a terminal run the command:
locale -a
to see what languages you have we need english to test this something like:
en_US.utf8

then run pncconf using this language:
LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 pncconf

Every thing should display in english and hopefully work properly.

I just checked with "LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 pncconf" and it works correctly, so a temporanaly solution may be to set the locale in the package, setting it to en_US.utf8 for all users; also because not all strings are localized in italian.
If I can help you locatize LinuxCNC in Italian I will do it with pleasure

There are very out-of-date instructions here:
wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Internationalization
So out of date that are calling LinuxCNC EMC2.

A more up-to-date way to work would be to create a Github account and create your own LinuxCNC repository (I think this is called "forking")

You can then fill-in the blanks in this file:
github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/blob/master/src/po/it.po

And then submit a pull-request back to the main repository.

However: As far as I can see that translation file is rather complete. It may be that the troublesome messages are not localisable.
poedit ( poedit.net ) might be helpful to spot untranslated messages.

Translating the documentation is a much bigger job, and less complete.
github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/tree/master/docs/src
You can see there are some files with an _es or _fr suffix for Spanish and French versions and these are linked to right at the top of
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/
(Though perhaps those links could be clearer)
