Also how is the 7I85S getting 5V power?
You must either
1. Setup the 6I25 to supply power to the 7I85S:
6I25 W2 UP (for P3 power)
6I25 W1 UP (for P2 power)
7I85S W3 UP (for 5V power from DB25 cable)
2. Setup the 7I85S for external power:
6I25 W2 DOWN (for P3)
6I25 W1 DOWN (for P2)
7I85S W3 DOWN (7I85S must have external 5V applied to P1)

Most stupid question... Up means if I look at the orientation in the manual that the jumper is towards the top?
If so than they should be correctly.

"Up" means "when held so that the writing on the screen-print is conventionally oriented"

I am really sorry, that's plain chinese Andy. "Conventionally oriented" sorry man this one I do not understand. Maybe that's why it doesn't work. Would you have an example or picture what up means in a conventional oriented way.
I must seem like an idiot here, but seriously as a noob that phrase is ultimately demotivating

When the screen print is right way up.
It might help to post a picture of YOUR board so that it the orientation of the jumpers can easily be seen.

Is that the way YOUR board is set.
Read the 6i25 manual and you'll understand what the jumper settings mean. Unless you are supplying the daughter board with power via the screw terminals the power must come from the 6i25

Yes, my board is set wrong... Although I read through the manual 3 times by now. I interpreted breakout board disabled as power doesn't need to be provided externally. Just the opposite way it seems. God I feel stupid.
Well let me try some more first this weekend. See if it works than, now I have to go for my job abroad for 3 days. Wish I didn't, I want to keep working on my motors.
The 7i85s is set default to up to take power from the db25cable. And so my assumption that the 6i25 was defaulted aswell to provide power to break out Board. A stupid error on my part so it seems.

Well, I didn't want to say "so that you can read the writing" because if you are anything like me you can read writing in any orientation.

To be honest, I consider myself quite intelligent but after this jumper error on the 6i25 board I am actually currently reviewing my opinion
Doesn't change the fact I will be setting linuxcnc up for robots in the very near (read little less near than yesterday) future.
Just a long long steep learning curve and the biggest problem is, reading the manual without an exact working example next to it makes it really hard to memorize and even harder to understand. It's as studying human biology without ever having seen a human body.
Thank god there is help on this forum. )) So thank you all so far!!!
Any chance someone from belgium or the netherlands here on this forum who is willing to sacrifice a day of real teaching one on one? For .hal files and basic logic ? I am willing to travel for it
EDIT: actually, scratch my countries, anywhere in the world would be fine, as long as I am shown just once how the whole thing comes together.
