Hello,

My spindle have a ptc termo sensor ....it's possible connect it to mesa 7i76e a show the value in axis?

If its possible to do it.... its possible to stop the machine if the temp rise up?

Best Regards,
Marco Gaspar

The 7i76E can be configured to have 4 analogue inputs (8 bit resolution)
www.mesanet.com/pdf/parallel/7i76eman.pdf page 18
www.ni.com/white-paper/7112/en/
However be aware that the full-scale on the analogue inputs is quite high, so you might need an amplifier (simple op-amp circuit maybe)

An alternative might be to see if this
uk.rs-online.com/web/p/temperature-senso...ity-sensors/1659406/
works with this LinuxCNC driver:
linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/man/man9/max31855.9.html

If the data format is similar then the signal can be convered in HAL to read an actual temperature (the "lincurve" component would be handy for this)

Here is another alternative:
www.petervis.com/GCSE_Design_and_Technol...with-thermistor.html

Wire that to a single-channel HAL encoder counter and use the velocity output as a measure of temperature.

Do you have the PTC specifications?

You can find little LM358 low signal amplifier modules on ebay if you need to use say 5 volts.. If you use 24 volts as a power source, this will give you about 60% of the 36 volt range of the input. I think you could use wcomp to trigger your over temp threshold

No.. it's a renaud spindle only know that is a ptc sensor.

If its a metal oxide PTC, these have very sharp switching points so are not very useful for temperature measurement and act more like a switch. Something as simple as a 5K pullup resistor and the 7I76E analog input would probably work with these.

You could learn more by measuring the resistance of the PTC especially if you can change the motor temperature.
