PNCConf error when clicking Done

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. Things were going fine, but it looks like I need the help of the pros now!

I've set up Linuxmint 19 with LinuxCNC and RT kernel patch with the help of BigJohnT's guide. Before this, I tried the Debian Stretch distribution, but at least with my computer (a Gigabyte box pc) it was freezing randomly while working.

So far I'm just running tests with a stepper and driver connected to a Mesa 7i76e board through Ethernet, I attached it to the X axis and running a test on the PNCConf menu I was getting movement. But, I'm getting this error code just before saving my profile:

I would appreciate a little push from somebody, thanks!

What version are you using? i did some recent work to pncconf - maybe i missed something.

I'm using LinuxCNC 2.8, should I aim to get 2.7 instead?

Well 2.8 isn't officially released yet but it's close -- i'll look at that code soon.
Shouldn't take much to fix it.

I just pushed a fix for this - it may take a few hours to get through the buildnbot if that's how you got linuxcnc.
Let me know if it fixed the error for you.

Indeed, it fixed the error and now the profile is created, thank you Chris! Just one thing, when I run that profile it now gives me this error:

For the time being I'm going to also try Debian Stretch in a desktop computer just to run the same tests on my stepper, maybe my box pc is not that Linux friendly. Weirdly, I noticed a freeze right after I updated LinuxCNC 2.8 with this fix.
I see people suggest to get a Raspberry Pi 4 B, if that's been proven and stable I will get one.

That sounds like the ip address is wrong on the 7i76e so its not being found.

I'm not sure if its still the case but if you wanted to use 10.10.10.10, you had to edit the generated hal file.

So make sure you can ping the 7i76e and open the hal file in a text editor. I use Geany. If the ip address does not agree, chenge it to what it really is.

Can you ping 10.10.10.10? Thats if you didnt change the ip on the 7i92. Also did you set static ip on linux box? something like 10.10.10.11?
