How to install and start pncconf? was created by Christoph
Hi,
I managed to install a realtime kernel on a raspberry pi 4 with raspbian, and compiled and installed linuxcnc 2.9.
I have a Mesa 7i76e card and want to use it for building a plasma cutter.
Unfortunatelly I am not able to start pncconf. No manual says how to install and start it... Is it installed with linuxcnc? When I type "pncconf" in the terminal the command can not be found.
I have found a "pncconf.py" in the folder "/linuxcnc-dev/src/emc/usr_intf/pncconf", but when I execute it python says that some modules are missing (import gtk.glade, ImportError: No module named glade). I did not find the module using pip...
There are hundreds of totorials about using pncconf, but how do I get it to start?
Best,
Christoph

I'm assuming you have a "run in place" installation.
Check this
forum.linuxcnc.org/39-pncconf/28932-run-...nf-from-source#56473
The "period" then "space" is important.
I used google with this term "linuxcnc start pncconf from rip"
And the above linked thread was the 3rd result.

Pretty sure the distribution required for rasberrypie does not include the libraries for gtk2/gtk2 glade.
Might be easiest to ask someone with a working config to copy it for you.

Thanks for the info, I have no other linux computer, so I will try to get it to work by editing the config files directly.
I took a configuration file from this thread:
forum.linuxcnc.org/38-general-linuxcnc-q...e-quick-setup#110621
With this config linuxcnc is starting and is able to find my 7i76e. I am not able to move the motors, because the emergancy stop is permanently activated with this config and my wiring, and the trivkins coordinates YYXZ looks strange.
I will try to solve this next week...
