I apologize, the rigid tapping question is not done correctly ;
my configuration is asynchronous motor with 200 ppr A+B+I TTL encoder connected to mesa card.
The VFD is controlled by the mesa board with the 0-10V output.
Is this enough for rigid tapping? Do I need to make other changes to my HAL file?
Thanks

If the encoder turns 1:1 with the tool then your setup will work.
If there is any gearing between the encoder and the spindle then you might need to arrange a separate index and adjust the encoder scaling.

Or the other way around?You need a spindle on the encoder for rigid tapping, ...

On the motor i have a 48 teeth pulley and 34 on the spindle.
The 200 ppr encoder is on the motor 1:1
(200ppr x 4 )/48 x 34 = 566,666667
ENCODER_SCALE = 566.66
In gmoccapy the speed in rpm is correctly displayed with a + -3% jittering
example :
M3 S300 gmoccapy show speed 290-310

But any sensor that you can set up as a 1ppr index on the actual spindle can be used to drive the Mesa encoder index channel.

In that case you will not be able to use the index on the encoder for rigid tapping. (Well, technically, it might actually work, but you won't be able to peck-tap, ie run the cycle twice in the same hole)On the motor i have a 48 teeth pulley and 34 on the spindle.

Wait a moment the encoder is channel A , channel B and channel I ( index connected to the encoder index input in the TB4 mesa 7i76e card)
