Mesa 7i96s keine Verbindung mehr möglich

Hi,

meine Mesa 7i96s Karte reagiert plötzlich nicht mehr. Ich habe die Karte schon erfolgreich in Betrieb gehabt, jetzt auf einmal bekomme ich jedoch keine Verbindung mehr zustande.

Ich kann die Karte nicht anpingen. Ich habe schon sämtliche Jumper Stellungen (W4, W5) durchgetestet, die Karte lässt sich auf 10.10.10.10 und auch auf 192.168.1.121 nicht erreichen. Natürlich habe ich meine IP am Rechner statisch darauf angepasst (10.10.10.11, 192.168.1.100)
Beim Hochfahren der Karte werden die vier User LEDs einmal als Lauflicht durchgespielt, danach gehen sie aus und es leuchtet nur noch die Power LED.

Am Ethernetport der Mesakarte leuchtet immer die gelbe LED, egal ob das Netzwerkkabel eingesteckt ist oder nicht. Die grüne LED blinkt wenn ich ein Kabel mit Verbindung zum Rechner einstecke. Natürlich habe ich auch verschiedene Netzwerkkabel ausprobiert...

Versuchsweise habe ich die Mesa Karte auch mal an meinen Windowsrechner angeklemmt. Die Netzwerkverbindung wird mit 100mbit erkannt, aber ich kann die Karte ebendfalls nicht anpingen, unter Netzwerkdetails sehe ich, dass Pakete gesendet werden jedoch 0 Pakete empfangen werden.

Ist es normal, dass die gelbe LED am Ethernetport immer leuchtet, auch wenn kein Kabel angeschlossen ist?

Kann die Karte defekt sein?

Sad to hear you're having trouble. Not uncommon for firmwares to corrupt themselves on a whim. Cosmic rays, bitflips, ya know...

Not familiar with Mesa cards but would guess the first step is as standard as all others; tried reloading the firmware via the JTAG header?

If the Ethernet jacks yellow LED is stuck on, this means the
Ethernet interface has been damaged, possibly by ESD or
a surge.

If the green LEDs do their dance at startup, the firmware is OK

The card was connected to the control computer all the time when I suddenly couldn't access the card, I didn't notice any electrical problems on the CNC. Is the card that sensitive to ESD?
Could it also be that the ETHERNET EEPROM CHIP is causing problems or the firmware in it is corrupted?
Can it be reflashed? P.29 in the manual...

This is not a firmware issue (the firmware is CRC checked)
and will not load if the check fails)  also in the 192.168.1.121 case,
the Ethernet EEPROM is ignored except for the MAC address and
this will cause no issues if changed.

Do you have the 7I96S frame ground connected to Earth?

In our experience this is caused by an actual spark from the frame
ground (=RJ45 shell) to the LED leads.

So could the KSZ8851-16 chip have been fried? Could the problem be solved by replacing this chip?

Evtl. setzt dich mal mit Peter aka Talla83 in Verbindung.
Der ist da in ziemlicher Fuchs was Mesa angeht.

Yes, that is the most likely the issue

Hello, i was able to revive the card by replacing the KSZ8851-16 ethernet chip, now everything works as usual again...
To be on the safe side, I have now also connected the grounding point above the Ethernet socket.
