A bientôt !

++JM

Slt,

Soit c'est désert ici, soit j'ai blasphémé, soit ça n’intéresse personne.
Peut être un peu des trois...

Sorry, I don't speak French,

Possibly the main reason you have not had any response is that we are having trouble understanding what your questions might be. Please ask specific questions.

2nd not many here do a lot with the Raspberry Pi. You may have better luck asking on the Machine Kit forums, it is a fork of LinuxCNC and is more geared towards 3-D printing and arm based computing.

Hi Todd, thanx for your awnser.

Well I posted on the french section, but it seems there's not a lot of active members.
Nerver mind, I can write in english too, even it will be more difficult to understand hardcore linux subtilities.

So, I can translate my initial message.

I'm a 50yo CNC guy living in western france.
I already builded two CNCs yet, a huge full pannel 2500x1250mm under Mach3, and a small 3D printer under Marlin.
Both works fine.

My project is to engineer an open source moderate footprint CNC mill.
An european shapeoko alike, but much better, of course !

While building the 3D printer I had a step beyon opent source world.
More than numerous existing advantages, I can see a real social project :
an alternative of that stupid economic model, imposed to us, that leave us loosers any time.

For mecanics and global architecture I've got enough skills to make it works properly.
As control board, My first thought was to use a Raspberry Pi (or whatever compativle fruit) with a touchscree 5" interface,
an USB breakout board, and separate drivers (undefined type yet).
As firware, what could be better than Linux CNC ? That's why I'm here.

I'm not goofy with computers, I got some skills, but my first contact with Ubuntu left me not realy confident with linux.
I go back because of the lack of informations and the difficulty to get easily wise and understandable advices.
So I'm an absolute penguin beginer !

I started to collect informations on what's possible with Pi boards and LinuxCNC/Emc².
It looks like there's some successfull trys.
But once again, I could not find enough usefull informations about the required distribution (Raspbian?),
and how to make all those things works together. No informations too about what's the limits of that setup.
Today, that's all I know about it.

Any question or help about that project are welcome.

Cya !
