Wizard stepconf: not possible to modify values !

Hello,

I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 and EMC2 (2.4) after getting the iso image file.
I try to use EMC2 wizard stepconf and i have a problem to enter values (for example
in the "maximum velocity" field).
The same behaviour has been observed with Ubuntu 8.04/EMC2 stepconf (that's why i have
tried the last release).
My parameters in stepconf wizard:
- 1st screen: i choose "new configuration" and click "forward" button
- 2nd screen: "forward"
- 3rd screen: not possible to change "velocity" and many other fields ("leadscrew pitch").
Sometime, may be after moving from 1 screen to another or doing something that helps, it's possible to change "leadscrew pitch" (but never
able to change "velocity": I get the prompt but not possible to enter or delete the value).
Someone has encountered the same problem ? Do you have an idea ?

Other question
My spindle driver has "step" and "dir" command, how it can be configured ?
(i found Spindle ON, brake, CW, PWM, PM mode in setup conf wizard).

Thanks

There is no velocity input on the third screen... can you take a screen shot of the offending screen?

Also what specific version of EMC ? ( if you start an emc config it will show you)
Did you allow EMC to upgrade it's self from the web or is it the version from the live cd?
The live cd version is a bit stale. the current version is 2.4.6

Stepconf does not support stepper driven spindles. You're the first person to ask that I know of.
I don't think it would be that hard depending on how well you know HAL (probably not well :) )
It would involve hand editing the config files and then stepconf would overwrite them so get your config
perfect first then modify it.

Hi John & Chris,

The screen with "max velocity" has the title "X axis configuration", this is not the 3rd screen, sorry.
I also choose units "millimeter" instead of inch.
Today i starts the setup (to see which screen has the "velocity" parameter) and now i can enter a value !
The difference with yesterday:
- auto update of EMC ?
- i have installed MACH3 & Wine.

The EMC version is 2.4.6; i don't know if it was the original version on the iso CD.
thank you,
Michel

Take a look here for spindle...

I think Andy's answer is in the direction you may want to go.

The only thing that could be grayed out are the homing options if you didn't select a home switch input. One of which is Home Search Velocity. I'm thinking you just got a little confused...
