Some more info for you... pocket 0 is the spindle on a random tool change machine so it is required. A developer was surprised that it didn't get auto magically added if missing.

Thanks for the info and the help.
Maybe EMC would have automatically added POC 0 if I had gotten to the G43 line. My pocket counting routine (no encoder -- just an "at pocket switch" and a "not at pocket switch") and tool changing sequence required a fairly complicated ClassicLadder program, so I was trying to see if it would lose count or fail before running a program.
I have run the machine for a year without the tool changer working. I was using the machine for roughing some Inconel parts with a 2 tool program.
I do use the G43, but I don't active the tool length compensation until my first Z move.
My normal code posts out like
.....
G53 Z0
M01
Txx M06
G0 G90.1 G54 Xxxx Yxxx Axxx Bxxx Sxxxx M03
G43 Hxx Zxxx M08
........
I used to write MasterCam posts, so I understand that everyone has their favorite way of seeing the code . Once you get used to a code style, it is hard to change.
Thanks
Glenn
