Bridgeport Series II Interact 2 Conversion

How did this turn out?

I have bought the same machine and I want to convert to emc2 and reuse the old encoders and motor amps.

What did you use for I/O ?

Well it's still sitting in my garage apart.. it'll get done one of these days. I'm patient and trying to chew through my chore list before I can get to it. But in the end my decision is either get the 602 D or E interpolation boxes or go big and put an Ajax system in it. Trying to reverse the system boards was too much effort for too little return given the availability of the interpolation boxes and my lack of that depth of knowledge. Encoders and motors I have confidence in. The amps I'm not sure about.

What I really am not sure about is the overall functional performance of a LinuxCNC system with my old amps compared to the Ajax system. If anyone can provide a objective comparison I'm all ears!!

Well if the amps work I don't see the point in spending all that money on new amps..

Can I use a Heidenhain exe 610b instead of a 602? Found some cheap ones on ebay..

The pdf above lists the 610c to be 5or 10fold and 2mhz clock frequency, is this good or bad? The 602 is non or 5fold and non clocked.
Not sure what the difference on the b or c models is.
