Joint 0 on limit switch

I gave up on 10.4 and went back to 6.061. Stepconf works great - back and forth up and down. When I try to run Axis I get:

Joint 0 on limit switch error
Joint 1 on limit switch error
Joint 2 on limit switch error

I got no limit switchs man.

What could be wrong - runs in sim mode? I've tried increasing table size in step config. I have several 6. cds may i'll install a diiferent one?

Thanks
Paul

Have you tried 8.04? It seems to work on many computers that 10.04 will not.
What version of EMC2 are you running?
When you run Stepconf are you selecting parallel port pins for limit switches? If you do not have them try not selecting them, or try inverting them.

Are you creating a new config with Stepconf or loading an existing config? If experimenting with different configs select one without limit switches.

Rick

set them to unused and it worked in Live mode, installing now. Thanks a million. I tried 8.04 and it locks up after displaying the Penguin. People think its the video card any ideas? What cards work in a old Dell?

Thanks again
Paul

Unfortunately you will be stuck on EMC2 v 2.3 with that version of Ubuntu (as far as I can tell).
It is probably worth investing a little time in trying to get 8.04 to work.

I'm running 2.5.1 and I cannot get past joint 1 on limit switch error. I tried inverting the inputs but made no difference. So where to now ?

Thanks Wallace

You will have to post your .ini and .hal file.

What happens if you just put a link across the appropriate terminals on the Joint 1 limit switch connectors? ie have you eliminated wiring faults?

I'm running it all on testbed and we have switches for the inputs which are working in the pnconfig.

it should be easy to trace this by starting linuxcnc and 'watching'

axis.0.neg-lim-sw-in and axis.0.pos-lim-sw-in

via machine --> show hal configuration --> pins --> axis --> 0 --> neg-lim-sw-in
and machine --> show hal configuration --> pins --> axis --> 0 --> pos-lim-sw-in
menu selections

BTW the PWM output type is wrong for a 7I48. 7I48 needs PWM type 2

PncConf only gives the following options.

Pulse Width Gen-P
Pulse Density-P
Up/Down Mode - Up

Am I in the wrong place ?
