encoder error was created by jlviloria
Now I turned my machine, I get the following error:
hm2/hm2_5i25.0: Encoder4:quadrature count error
This error can result?
The only new thing I had done was to enable the home and limit switch.
X values are very high position.
thanks

A 'quadrature count error' indicates that the input section of the
quadrature counter saw A and B change simultaneously (which is illegal for quadrature)
This usually indicates some kind of noise coupled into both A/B encoder inputs
at the same time.
Do you have the encoder filter turned on? (man hostmot2 in encoder section)
and are you using encoder 4?

encoder filter you mean this?
setp "hm2_5i25.0.encoder.00.filter 1"
not what you mean with encoder 4.
encoder is a "2000 pulses" and that I should scale well multiply by 4 the value of the scale. That would Encoder 4?
The only thing odd about the machine move was to enable him home and limit switch
HOME_OFFSET = 0.000000
HOME_SEARCH_VEL = -0.050000
HOME_LATCH_VEL = -0.016667
HOME_FINAL_VEL = 0.000000
HOME_USE_INDEX = yes
HOME_SEQUENCE = 1
both axes are giving erroneous measurements

The error was with encoder number 4 (out of 0,1,2,3,4,5)
If this encoder is not used I would suspect you have caused
some kind of wiring problem.
I would un-do your last changes and see if you can trace whats gone wrong
especially if the measurements were OK and are now wrong

Peter.
I think I found the problem.
I update my linuxcnc to 2.6.0-pre. to install a. patch (fanuc-change-tools).
My setup is in mm.
when input the machine moves 1mm but my encoder is registering 25.4mm. but machine if move 1mm.
in inch view if you move the 0.0393" that corresponds to 1mm
linuxcnc be that this corrupt?
thanks

That's a different problem.
Can you answer PCWs question: Are you using encoder 4?
It seems unlikely that you would be using the 5th encoder on a lathe (encoders are numbered from 0, so encoder.04. is the 5th one). Perhaps you mis-wired a switch into the encoder connector?
