You might as well try to remove the linuxcnc package and see if the other stuff you didn't want is removed as well, or is able to be removed.
Then you could just install the correct Lucid package and see how it goes.
If it does not work, nothing lost, just reinstall and re-instate your home dir.
Then you can track down what you did to get your screen to work, probably something in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d, but might be elsewhere
regards

too late, before I can do anything, the horrid blue screen is in the house!!
Anyway, a last sanity check.
Does Debian runs with X11 ore Xorg?
because my touchscreen worked with Elotouch installation on Lucid

I don't know what you mean, but if you are contemplating increasing complexity by 100% by now installing a completely different distro,
that you have no idea as to whether it will support your touchscreen, then don't .
Just reinstall Lucid, try to not format the partition as I described.
Lots of people have had problems with touchscreens under the debian distro, screens that worked OK under Lucid and even standard Debian,
so don't go down that route until there is something available only in Debian that will make all the hassle worth while.

I was really hesitant to use wheezy. all because of my touchscreen.
Just have to stick to Lucid.
