Formula to calculate the right SCALE was created by Banda68
Hello to Everybody!

Please apologize me for a very simple question but I ask to You if somebody can help me.

I have build the 4 axis on my machine (Axis A)
So it can rotate at 360 degree
I have a pulley system so from the motor to the A Axis the Reduction ratio is 1 to 12
(On the motor 18 teeth, than 3 pulley of 72 teeth to have 1:12 reduction ratio)
I would like have a high torque for this axis.

I have a 1.8 degree degree stepper motor and the stepper card is configurated at Sixteen step
(Number of steps per 1 Shaft revolution is 3200)

Please can You write to me the formula to calculate the right SCALE parameter in . INI configuration file considering the Reduction ratio is 1 to 12 ?

Many Thanks for Your great Help!!
Kind Regards
Luciano!!

You need to know how far it moves in 1 revolution. Is it ball screw, rack and pinion or something else? What are the specifications for your drive that let you calculate the distance moved in 1 revolution?

I believe for configuring your rotary axis you need to specify the axis scale in steps/degree (or what ever angular units you are configuring the machine to use.)

So for the numbers you gave one revolution of the step motor will give 1/12 of a rev of your rotary, or 3200 steps = 30 degrees. Which is 106.667 steps/degree and that is what your step scale shoudl be. (provided the numbers you gave were correct.)

Dear Away I have just the pulley system to Reduction ratio is 1 to 12 without any ball screw.

I have an Angular postponement to Reduction ratio is 1 to 12 without any ball screw.
I have a 1.8 degree degree stepper motor and the stepper card is configurated at Sixteen step
(Number of steps per 1 Shaft revolution is 3200)
I hope I give to You all information.
Many Thanks

Dear Rodw I have just the pulley system to Reduction ratio is 1 to 12 without any ball screw.

I have an Angular postponement to Reduction ratio is 1 to 12 without any ball screw. Just belts
Pratically the shaft of the motor made 1 revolution and the A Axis made 1/12 step
I have a 1.8 degree degree stepper motor and the stepper card is configurated at Sixteen step
(Number of steps per 1 Shaft revolution is 3200)
please can You write to me the formula for calcolate the right SCALE parameter?
Than I will change the value in my .ini file
Please can You confirm to me I have to change this setting just in .ini file?
Or i must modify some other file/files?
Many Thanks for your great Help!!

I hope I give to You all information.
Many Thanks

Dear Todd
Many Thanks for your quick answer!
Please can You write to me the formula to calculate 106.667 Steps/degree?
Please can You confirm this code is ok?
This is the code of my A Axis in .ini file:

[AXIS_3]
TYPE = ANGULAR
HOME = 0.0
MAX_VELOCITY = 900.0
MAX_ACCELERATION = 350.0
STEPGEN_MAXACCEL = 700.00
SCALE = 106.667
FERROR = 1
MIN_FERROR = .25
MIN_LIMIT = 0.00
MAX_LIMIT = 360.0
HOME_OFFSET = 0.00000
HOME_SEARCH_VEL = 12.0000
HOME_LATCH_VEL = 0.7
HOME_SEQUENCE = 1

I have to change just in .ini file or too in other files?
Many Thanks for Your great Help!
Kind Regards

I thought I kind of did.
I'll try again.
Step motor's Steps/rev (including micro-stepping) = S (3200)
Motor Revolutions / Rotary Axis revolution = R (12:1)
Rotational Units(/rev) = U (360 degrees)
Steps per Unit = S*R/U = 3200*12/360 = 106.667

Yes, that is where you put it. I don't think you need to put it any where else.
