Hi All
After a minor disaster with my CNC Plasma cutter, I have ended up replacing a PC, Screen and BOB.
I have spend some time testing configuring the parallel port as that "appeared to be a problem... until I discovered it was actually the BOB. (Thanks Todd for your guidance)
So, I've picked up a cheap replacement BOB to, hopefully get me going.
I've installed a fresh linuxCNC 2.7.x on the new PC and imported the old config files, making the small change to remark out the old parallel port driver.
As you can see in the pics, I've not got everything wired up, I want to make sure it was working before I do.
With the setup as it is, I have Z driver connected and Axis running.
When I use the onscreen jog I can get movement in one direction and a rather unleasant noise when i try the other.
Any ideas what I have done wrong?
This seems to be the manual for my BOB
warp9td.com/images/BOB_Vendors/StepperOnline/ST-V2.pdf
and my pins setup are in the pic.
Any suggestions greatly recieved!!
Thanks in advance
Danny

It sounds like Z is stalling in one direction (up?)
That may be caused by excessive acceleration settings

Or low current setting on the drive.

Thank you PCW and tommylight
1st thing this morning (I'm in the UK) I was out re configuring.
I tried the acceleration (which was more than twice the speeds I actually use!) and sadly, no change.
So, next step was voltage, and after a little fiddling about with the previous setup, I came up with the "proposed" configuration as per my attached documentation
...and surprisingly enough I now have movement on all axis in all directions.
YIPPPPPPPEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Thank you to everyone who has assisted getting me back on track. It is amazing how much you can learn when doing these things.... ...then forget in just a few short years!!!
