Hi There,
2 Years ago i worked on a plasma cutter and it is working well. But now i got a small lathe and would like to use LCNC also for it.
Does anyone have a description how to get the Rotation Speed of the lathe into LCNC? I need to build up complete, theres no encoder on the lathe, so i need to do something here also, what is best suitable for LCNC?

You don;t give us much to go on there but:
If you are using a VFD they usually can supply the speed.
or add a industrial encoder
or use a gear tooth and a couple magnetic sensors,
or a couple of light sensors and a disk with holes in it.
Do you just want RPM displayed or do you want to thread?
VFD feedback is not enough to thread with.
If you are going to the trouble to add sensors - might as well add enough to thread with.

Hi Chris,
ok, its a little bit less, but i also have not more
due to i have the lathe, i think i will use an light sensor and make a wheel with 2 or 4 holes inside. But what signal does the LCNC need?
I want to use the RPM for Thread and displaying

For threading I would suggest a disk with around 50 slots and in index slot.
More or less is fine, but with less accuracy degrades and with more the count-rate might exceed the interface speed (if using the parallel port, not a problem with other hardware).
To do rigid tapping you need to add a third sensor for the B-quadrature signal, but you can do single-point threading with only pulse and index.
