so, here is where i am at... i tried creating a new configuration, and it was working great, with the exception that a move of 1 inch, caused it to move about 3.5 feet (roughly).
so, i have a 200 steps per rotation stepper, the drivers are all set to 1600 pulse (microstepping setting of 8? and the pitch of the ballscrew i think is 5mm.
i had 200 set for the steps per rev, microstepping of 8, ratio of 1:1 (direct drive), and (don't remember the setting name) was set to 127. (revs per inch?) i arrived at 127 by 5mm_pitch X 25.4. i also tried the result of 5 / 25.4 (0.1968), with no better results.
my mind is so frazzled, i wonder if i should have even converted to inches. but the problems i had converting from inches to mm in the G code, seemed to out-weigh the conversion process (so i thought).
other than existing, what am i doing wrong?

ok, i scoured the web, and found this: www.newmantools.com/tech/pitchconversions.htm
so with a 5mm ballscrew, i enter a value of 5.08 threads per inch?

Yes.
As 1 inch is 25,4mm, so 25,4/5=5.08
5.08 revs of ballscrew means 25.4mm of travel and that is equal to 1 inch.

dang, so that's where my math went wrong! i tried 5/25.4, instead of 25.4/5!
Thanks!

ok, i have a functioning machine again! i finally had time to get out there and "play".
so now i just have to review both config files and compare notes. after i make a backup of the working config, that is.

I don't think that there are any INI changes from 2.7.0 to 2.7.14

unfortunately, i both updated from 2.7.0 to 2.7.14, and loaded the converted INI file at the same time, so no telling which change caused the conflicts
