Thank you in advance for the help, I am just starting with my build (hardware listed below) and have the basic concepts down. I finally got LinuxCNC running (along with Python 3 and Pip3 upgraded). I also have the 7i96 configuration tool downloaded and working. I think I have the basic wiring to the board figured out, but I am struggling to figure how to actually use the 7i96 configuration tool, and then the pnnconf tool. Where can I find out what each value needs to be and what it controls? Any other guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hardware:
Mesa 7i96
(3) Leadshine DM556 Motor Drivers
20 AMP 48v power supply
(3) Nema 23 425oz steppers
350/650/1050mm supported linear rails and 5/8" ball screws
Spindle will be a Bosch 1617 router

I think that you use _either_ the 7i96 tool (from Gnipsel / JT?) _or_ PNCConf (and then maybe edit manually for 7i96)

pncconf (in LinuxCNC 2.8 or later) supports the 7I96

Guys,

Thanks for the replies, I have not had a chance to get back on here until now. I see that pncconf supports its, but my problem is at an even more basic level. I am trying to figure out what I need to enter in all the required fields/parameters. Kind of like set up dummies, were can I find the correct specs from my hardware to plug into the software so they pay nice? This is my first CNC project and it has been a while since I played with Linux in general, so I am basically starting from scratch.
