I have installed linuxCNC in two different places: one on a PC in the shop; one under VMWare Workstation in my house, which does not get cold.
The default GUI seems to be this.  At least on the PC in the shop.  In the install under VMWare Workstation, it seems to default to a completely different GUI, also attached.  I get that the INI file has a DISPLAY line.  But what is the GUI in blue with Moire patterns?

The GUI you see will depend on the configuration you load.
There are demo configs for all the major GUIs.
