Hi, i am doing a retrofit of an old CNC table with mesa 7i97. And i already have installed encoders whose input is 10-30 VDC and output is push pull type. Can i connect that to my mesa 7i97 encoders inputs or does it have to be 5 V encoders. I did not find anything about that in manual but i want to be sure because there is 5V output voltage on encoder pins.

5V only, as far as i know.
To use higher voltage ones, it needs to have voltage dividers for every signal pin used. It is very simple by using two resistors for each pin.
It would be nice to also add zener diodes to each input, just in case any of those resistors disconnects.

The manual suggest that the inputs are safe to 12V:

But I would be tempted to divide-down to 5V anyway.
