Home inductive switches for Mesa 7i96s was created by Markgonz
Hello everyone,

Trying to understand home switches for a future mill build and decide what I should buy, I have a 7i96s, reading the descripition says the following:

11 isolated inputs provided for general control use including limit switch and control panel inputs. Inputs operate with 3V to 36V DC and can have a positive or negative common for sourcing or sinking input applications.

I guess then that it doesn't matter if I get PNP or NPN as long as I do the correct installation right?

Also after some research seems that NC (normally closed) is recommended for safety in case a cable breaks.

Thanks in advance!

In general I would have a slight bias towards PNP sensors for a 7I96/7I96S

The reason is that with a PNP common connection (input common to ground)
You can mix input voltage levels (so if you needed to sense 5V signals,
say for a MPG, you could)
