New spindle running in reverse

I need some help please.
I use LinuxCNC V2.8.2.11 with a USB to RS485 convertor to control the Huanyang  VFD with a water cooled 800W Chinese spindle set. All has been running well for 7+ years until I worked on the water system and made the schoolboy error of not replacing the antifreeze. The latest cold snap froze everything solid and ruined the spindle.
I now have a German replacement correctly wired as per their instructions (pins 123 to U,V,W) which I have checked and is correct BUT the spindle runs in reverse.
What is the correct way of overcoming the issue?
1.       My memory from college 50+ years ago suggests swapping the U & V connections for a 3 phase motor to reverse it. Is this OK with a VFD and the new spindle?
2.       Swapping the cw for ccw and ccw for cw in the custom.hal file listed below
(eg so net spindle-cw spindle.0.forward => vfd.spindle-forward
will read
net spindle-ccw spindle.0.forward => vfd.spindle-forward)
3.       Some other method?

Your help will be much appreciated.

Cheers Barry

Custom.hal contents:
loadusr -Wn vfd hy_vfd -n vfd -d /dev/ttyUSB0 -p none -r 9600
net spindle-cmd-rpm-abs => vfd.speed-command
net spindle-cw spindle.0.forward => vfd.spindle-forward
net spindle-ccw spindle.0.reverse => vfd.spindle-reverse
net on spindle.0.on => vfd.spindle-on

Any of those should do.
Just not both.

What Tommy said is right but I wanted to mention that this doesn't absolutely need to be U & V, you can actually swap ANY two of the three U,V,W connections to reverse direction.

Also, method #3 would be to look at the VFD manual and see if there's a setting for clockwise/counter-clockwise direction. Many VFD will allow you to reverse the default direction of rotation this way
