I have a Huanyang VFD connected to my PC with Usb to RS485 converter.  Everything works fine most of the time.
During a tool change, the spindle shuts down and the brake is activated, rather aggressively.  About 1 time in 3, the spindle will fail to restart.  I have to shutdown linuxcnc and restart it.  If I launch from a console, I see a modbus communication error cycling like it lost connection.

If, however, I put a wrench on the spindle brake to keep it from activating too fast and let the spindle slow down a bit, the error never occurs.  How can I avoid this error?

My entire configuration is here in the master branch: github.com/sliptonic/millstone

What controls the spindle brake? Is it an output from the VFD?

Do you have a braking resistor attached?
