Yes, the halshow indicators are yellow for true and dark red for false
and hm2_7i96s.0.inm.00.input-01-not (X limit) = TB3 pin 2 should
change from red to yellow when you activate the X limit switch.
(assuming a NC switch and that TB3 pins 2 and 12 are wired properly)

Yes, and that's perfectly OK. I ran that way for years.
The likely explanation is that the HOME_POSITION is not far enough from HOME_OFFSET to be off the switch at the end of the homing process.

The issue is that he has the same switch for home AND positive AND negative limits:

Finally got it working. I am dumber than a bag of hammers. The wiring was all routed correctly in the electronics enclosure. All the aviation connectors were soldered properly with no shorts. The settings in both the ini and hal files were all (mostly) correct and work as advertised.
But....
It is REALLY important that you label your cables - I had the x limit switches plugged into the connector clearly labeled Y on the electronics enclosure.
Thanks to everyone who supplied answers and watched me fumble through this up until now. I think I got this now (probably not).
