Is the parallel port on the motherboard or is it an add on card?
If built in, go into BIOS and find where the parallel port address can be changed to 378.
If add on
sudo lspci -v | grep parallel

lspci -v says card is a serial device, I have a disk of assorted drivers with the card which would require identifying chipsets and drivers, I have started a new thread asking for recommendations for a PCI printer card that works out of the box.
