Versa Probe with Qtdragon hang

Randomly, when I Z probe, QtdragonHD just hang after the first contact with the workpiece. The green probe light flashes once the, then every thing stops for 30 sec. Then a popup shows the following message:
ERROR INFO: Probe routine: Probe down: latch return failed: Command timed out: (30 second)


When this occurs, all next probing down attempts will fail.

Yesterday, I found that hitting the "Machine On" button twice could reset the process and allow other succesfull Z probe.

I never experienced this when probing on X and Y.

Did you resolve this? I have a similar or the same problem with qtdragon and basicprobe.

This may not help much but I have been using Basic Probe with LCNC 2.9.3 and now 2.9.4 with QTDragon_HD and have not seen this issue.

It's annoying that it is random, I can not up till today reproduce the error. Last days of dry running and testing macro codes with probing procedures has not triggered it. But I bet the moment I go live and try to cut something the error will happen.

If I only knew what to look for in HALshow or some logfile, troubleshooting would be easier....

This is typical of the move length and speed not being finished in the timeout requirement.
But that seems strange on the latch return.

What version of linuxcnc are you using and can you post a pic of the probe settings you are using (when it failed)

I'm on 2.9.3, to my knowledge, I have not seen any changes in the values on the probe screen when it fails. I "think" I have seen a command in the linux status window, indicating a retract command when it is halting. But will double check next time.
