Which error? This thread is about RTAPI delay.10.04 lucid & EMC2 Live.
Booting from a usb stick.
I am getting the same error about inserting the module.
There are a number of loadable modules related to EMC2. (note that these are rtapi, not rtai). There should be no need for insmod trying to load the rtai module as it should be part of the kernel and NOT a module.

I see your fix to boot the lapic kernel?
but update-grub fails to find the usb-stick
"grub-probe:error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev/mounted?)"
Also dmesg shows:
" RTAI [hal]:error. local apic configured but not available/enabled."

Well
It seems that running EMC2 from a usb stick will be troublesome for me on 10.04.
I will try this again on 8.04 and let you know how it goes.
