I am trying to install Linux CNC 2.5.0 on a new computer. I downloaded file from site. Went to check if The MD5SUM of the CD is 76dc2416b917679b71255e464ede84ec) is present and it said that it is did not match. Where do I go from here.

Download the ISO again and read the Getting Started Guide for instructions.

Hi

The links are there

Try going to www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/download which repeats and links to the relevant bits

Sequence is simply
Download iso
Check iso with md5sum
Burn iso to CD
Boot CD and Install

If you are trying to download from a windoze machine, try right clicking and 'Save As', sometimes IE especially corrupts downloads by trying to be clever.

I have tried to download in three different computers and when I check the sum it is never the same. It does not have a save as option only a save option. It saves it in my downloads.

All I can suggest is that you burn the .iso to CD and see if it boots

Just be sure you burn direct from the .iso and don't drag and drop it into some windoze GUI that then creates another .iso with that one inside it.

Google whatever software you have to find how, I only know about linux

I downloaded software from linux. The MD5SUM number matched. So I burn image file to DVD. I formatted a new hard drive and tried to boot from DVD. I gives me message could not find a file. I just do not understand why I am having so much problems with such a simple task.

We can't assist without some more info

Which version of the Live CD?

Onto what computer?

I gives me message could not find a file

What precisely was the message and when exactly did it occur?

PS

So I burn image file to DVD

Why did you use a DVD?
If it was because the image would not fit on a CD, you have probably done what I warned about in post 33154
