PRECISE 12.04 was created by tld70
Hello,
I have done a install with exactly this document: wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?LinuxCNC_On_Ubuntu_Precise
What I teste it worke exept the update with the update manager ( I dont know the word for the english function )
The Error is: Installation von Paketen erforderlich, denen nicht vertraut werden kann

Diese Aktion würde die Installation von Paketen aus nicht authentifizierten Software-Paketquellen erfordern.

Does somebody have a hint?

Best regards
Thomas

Installation of packages required, which can not be trusted

This action would require the installation of packages from unauthenticated software package sources.

The error is the source packages are not signed, or do not have a gpg key.
What is it you are trying to update?

If it is Sebs kernel packages, I think he still has not signed them.

Do apt-get update && apt-get upgrade from a terminal and you should be able to override the default N/y to install

Thank you
this works.

Now is the next problem
the path lib/firmware/hm2 is not present,
where can I get the actual firmwares or how to install?

Go to

buildbot.linuxcnc.org/hm2/dists/hm2-firmware/

and choose the appropriate flavour

I suspect you are connecting remotely via ssh?

If so, likely to be an X forwarding problem, need some idea exactly what you are doing

I only installed a new systen to test in VM Ware
noc ssh connection, just start Linuxcnc and after some seconds much alarms occur ( like this i wrote )
in the moment all works,
I think this all was "1 time alarms"
hopefully it works now

If you are running through a virtual machine, then again probably a X forwarding error rather than anything to do with linuxcnc.

It can be very sensitive, if you open 2 ssh connections to a remote host, sometimes you get reams of errors to do with being unable to resolve display etc.
I seem to be limited to 1 forwarded X display log in and 1 text login when I access my server

Hi,

New in this excellent forum, I'm using linuxcnc for 2 years now.

I just used the same instructions to get linuxcnc on 12.10 from a brand new installation (new machine) : wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?LinuxCNC_On_Ubuntu_Precise

Everything went well up to the reboot step : when I check the real time kernel using "uname -r", I still get : 3.8.0-35-generic, and not the new one : 3.4.55-rtai-2

What is the way to force linux to use the new one ? I suppose there is another file to update ?

If you weren't offered a choice of kernels including the new one, then you probably did not do update-grub before rebooting
