Take out the HDD from the old computer and put it in a newer one, install Linuxcnc, put it back in the old one and boot.
Did this several times, successfully, i might add.

Ahhh, smart, I will try that! I had actually almost given up. Downloaded a demo of mach3, but I would rather use linuxcnc if I can get it to work. Thanks for the help!
