Downgrade Glade was created by Mike_Eitel
I installed glade via synaptics. Resulted in version 3.2

That version seems to be too new for gmoccapy. ( Newest Master, stretch, uspace)
How can i downgrade to a according glade version?

Please keep in mind that I'm not a real Linux specialist.

I always thought, according to the docs, the needed glade-gtk2 version required was 3.8.0

linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/gui/gladevcp....adevcp:prerequisites
and

www.forum.linuxcnc.org/forum/gmoccapy/29...a-button-to-gmoccapy

Or have I got this completely wrong ?

3.8 series is what you need (3.8.0, 3.8.5 or 3.8.6)
There are debs available here-ish:
www.linuxcnc.org/dists/wheezy/base/
in folder binary-amd64 or binary-i386 (depending on your distribution 64 or 32bit)

glade-gtk2
you may need to add
glade-gnome as well

I bet the version you have is 3.20.0 - no good for gladevcp

If you click on the file it should pop up a dialog asking what to do.
Open it with a package installer (probably what it suggests)
From there it should install it.

Then one must tell glade about where the widget library is.
Are you using a installed version of linuxcnc or a RIP version?

I used the stretch iso. Then switched to master.
When installing i prefere synaptics..
Got Mesa config files from Norbert and building mine.
Include ladder and LCD hw. Then wanted to make a interimistic hw test page.
Missed glade, installed it and got errormessage.
Read and found that this Install was a mistake.
So, how to revert without restarting from iso?

You don't have to revert, you can have both on the system.
You can if you like, deselect the GLADE you have in synaptics.

I don't know if the iso is 64 bit or not - 50/50 chance
maybe others can tell you.

using the Deb file is the easiest way.
Oh damn you said stretch I see stretch does not have the debs...
It may work anyways using wheezy's deb -worth a try.

To be honest, i fear to do an uninstall. Gmoccapy works and that is what i need.

Would have been nicer to have a tab to see my io's when i redo my 'old' 7i47 controler to new 7i76e/7i76 , but can use halmeter too.

Should have read more but simple click in synaptics was so tempting.

removing glade 3.20 will not effect gmoccapy at all.
Glade is an editor - not required for running Gmoccapy.
And as i said you don't have to remove it at all.
Glade 3.20 and Glade 3.8.0 can both be on the same system.
Glade 3.20 is used for GTK3 widgets Glade 3.8.0 is for GTK2 widgets.
all linuxcnc GTK based UIs use GTK2 at this time.

Debs are as simple as synaptics

If you are really worried test the process on another computer
Then you could even test your Gmoccapy changes and then transfer the files to your cnc computer.

Ok thx Chris
So where do you propose to search for a deb fitting stretch.
And I have to look for 3.8.6 , right?
