The knoppix is a good idea, but i would propose not to use an usb stick. Bought some ssd for 25 +- 5 bugs. That way system reaction will be much faster and will be fun. All sticks upset me as im "verry patient" - ;)

Thanks for the comments. I've picked up a book and free "The Linux Command Line Fifth Internet Edition".so have some stuff to do.

I'll just wipe the disk and sort out W10 another way. It's not a problem, I just had the 480 GB SSD so it's a little wasted on Linux.

It is your sandbox so do as you wish. Not pushing Knoppix ,but it's thing was to boot up from a CD - DVD player and be able to fix or repair the existing operating system without needing to install on the hard drive. Usually referred to as " Live ". The DVD drive may spin and stop then restart for awhile before the program is running.
Look at w3.DistroWatch.com for a listing of current Linux releases. I replaced Windows with Mageia and have looked at Sayabon .
Enjoy the journey
