I've got a mesa 7i92 and a Gecko G540 combination and i am following Jethornton's guide on installing the configuration tool on debian 9. However I've hit snag where i can't flash the card, (I've got the required ping from the card and the configuration tool is fully populated) but I get an error message when i go to open the ini.file (there is a error message to the tune of {Note: Using POSIX realtime}), also in the configuration tool when i go to flash the card there is an error message (can't find file /home/usr/.local/lib/python3.5/site-packages/m7i92/7i92_G540x2D.bit).

I am sure that this is just a step i have missed, so I thought i would ask the forums.
Also i am using python version 2.7.13 (not sure if this is the problem)
also i have changed the deb repositories to the rtpreempt buildbot repositories.

any help is greatly appreciated...

the ini file got nothing to do with the flash of the 7i92

hat does the pin reread get you
mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --readhmid > test.pin

then look in the test.pin what file is loaded and haow the pins are named

You can use pncconf to get your mashine running not a ready made INI this might fail
the posx saying your Kernel may have a issue

I have you checked that folder to see if the firmware is there ?
If not you have to download the bit file. PCW may have the download link.

The firmware files are in this zip archive:

www.mesanet.com/software/parallel/7i92.zip

(in configs/hostmot2)

Before attempting to update the firmware, you should verify you
are connected to the 7i92 with bbsr_5a's example or just:

mesaflash --device 7i92
(if the 7I92 is at its default 192.168.1.121 address)
or
mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10
(if the 7I92 is set to use its EEPROM address of 10.10.10.10)

When actually writing the firmware, its probably easiest to run mesaflash
from the directory containing the .bit file:

mesaflash --device 7i92 --write 7i92_G540x2D.bit
or
mesaflash --device 7i92 --addr 10.10.10.10 --write 7i92_G540x2D.bit

I think my title is a little misleading, I actually think i am having trouble with creating the folder that the .bit file goes in.. I'm a bit confused to the actual meaning of step:3 of this page: jethornton.github.io/7i92/install.html
I've not used linux much and i don't know how to insert the string into the folder, I've watch a couple video's and they got me confused..
I haven't gotten to the flashing yet...

That page refers to installing the configuration tool
not flashing the 7I92 with new firmware

To flash the card, refer to my previous post, first
downloading 7i92.zip and unzipping it into your
home directory:

unzip 7i92.zip
cd configs
cd hostmot2
then follow the instructions above

I managed to re-open the configuration tool( i just needed to rename the .xsessionrc file). However I still can't open the ini.file (the line reads: cannot find file for:custom.hal).
So I suppose i still need to create a custom hal file... Any clues..?
