thanks Dmitry, that's great, maybe this mainboard is a little more practical than the ASUS J4005I-C

My question: is there a way to install and run Linuxcnc 2.8 / Debian 10 on a 32bit architecture?

Unfortunately not.

Actually, this should be possible, we do build 32-bit Buster debs.

www.linuxcnc.org/dists/buster/2.8-rtpreempt/binary-i386/

You need to install Buster, then the preempt-rt kernel, and then LinuxCNC.
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/getting-start...th_preempt_rt_kernel

(I know these instructions specifically say "amd64" throughout. I think that is an error.)

Hmmm i was pretty sure they all gave up on 32 bit, but apparently not, thank you Andy.
So here is the link to 32 bit Buster, the non free version with all the drivers for WiFi etc.
