Yeah man, it works!
I imported a greyscale image for test.

But I find some unexpected symbols in the CNC preview window, see attached screenshot.
I think I am using Wayland currently, may its not a problem with X11 ?

I tested both 2.8 and 2.9 release - both show those symbols.
And I am using X11.

Its a bug ?

That is due to language being different, if i recall correctly.
I was pretty sure it was fixed for German, ...

Since its a known issue it can be solved ;-).
Can you tell by when this will be fixed in the next 2.9 release - I would then like to update the package.
Will it take days, weeks, months ?

To avoid those symbols and get the coordinates back, I tried to run linuxcnc with other local language settings, like:
# LC_ALL=C linuxcnc
or
# LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 linuxcnc
But this did not help, the symbols are still displayed.

Is there a workaround to avoid those symbols to be displayed and see the coordinates ?
